Why this trip

We go to the Panda Base first thing in the morning, when the pandas are most active. Then the Leshan Giant Buddha and up into the mountains for the lakes of Jiuzhaigou and the pools of Huanglong. Three UNESCO World Heritage sites in one trip.

Good to know

  • Huanglong reaches 3,600 m. Walk slowly and drink water; if you've had altitude problems before, tell us.
  • The route runs from May to November. From December to April Huanglong is partly closed.
  • Even in June, nights at Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong are cool. Bring a jacket.
