Good to know

  • Altitude: Shangri-La is at 3,300 m and Jade Dragon goes up to about 4,500 m. If you've had altitude problems before, tell us.
  • The trek takes two days on mountain paths, several hours each day. You need to be reasonably fit.
  • November to March is dry and clear. June to August is the rainy season.
  • Winter nights in Shangri-La drop well below zero.
